Job Description

Milling Sales Executive

Bring your sales expertise and industry knowledge to a role where you can make a measurable impact. We’re looking for a relationship-driven, results-focused Sales Executive to grow business within the milling market. You’ll have the opportunity to build strategic customer partnerships, uncover new opportunities, and connect customers with innovative ingredient solutions—all while collaborating with a knowledgeable cross-functional team.

What’s in it for you

  • A high-impact sales role with the opportunity to directly influence growth, market penetration, and profitability.
  • The autonomy to develop and grow relationships with key customers across the milling, grain processing, and food ingredient industries.
  • The opportunity to serve as a strategic partner and trusted advisor—not simply a salesperson—by helping customers solve technical and business challenges.
  • Exposure to innovative products, applications, emerging technologies, and evolving market opportunities.
  • The chance to collaborate with experienced teams across R&D, Technical Services, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality, Marketing, and Finance.
  • A primarily remote/home-office and customer-facing environment with significant time spent in the market connecting with customers, prospects, and industry professionals.

This role will be responsible for

  • Developing, managing, and expanding relationships with existing and prospective customers, including flour mills, grain processors, and value-added ingredient manufacturers.
  • Identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities that support profitable growth within the milling market.
  • Creating strategic account plans designed to expand product offerings, increase volume, and improve profitability.
  • Marketing and selling specialty ingredient solutions by combining technical expertise, customer insights, and industry knowledge.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor by providing customers with technical support, application guidance, product recommendations, and problem-solving assistance.
  • Monitoring customer activity, competitors, market trends, emerging technologies, and potential partnership or acquisition opportunities.
  • Identifying new product opportunities and innovative solutions that can drive growth in the milling market.
  • Developing effective sales, marketing, and promotional strategies that strengthen customer engagement and market penetration.

Expectations will include

  • Building and maintaining a strong pipeline of leads and opportunities while effectively managing sales activities, forecasts, customer interactions, and account plans through CRM tools.
  • Working cross-functionally to ensure customer projects and business initiatives are executed successfully.
  • Maintaining a high level of product, technical, market, and competitive knowledge.
  • Preparing and delivering compelling customer presentations, business reviews, pricing proposals, and strategic recommendations.
  • Maintaining an active presence within relevant milling, grain processing, and food industry associations, conferences, trade shows, and other industry events.
  • Traveling frequently to customer facilities, manufacturing and milling operations, business meetings, conferences, trade shows, training sessions, and industry events. Travel is expected to be 50%+ and may include both day and overnight trips.
  • Comfort working in and visiting manufacturing, grain processing, and milling facilities while following applicable safety, PPE, GMP, and food-safety requirements.

A qualified candidate will possess the following

  • A bachelor’s degree in food science, agriculture, business, milling science, grain science, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in B2B sales, business development, technical sales, or account management within food ingredients, grain processing, milling, or a related industry.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic account growth plans and successfully closing new business opportunities.
  • Experience using CRM systems, sales forecasting tools, and pipeline management processes.
  • A strong understanding of milling operations, grain-based ingredients, food manufacturing, or ingredient applications is preferred.
  • A demonstrated ability to develop and maintain high-value customer relationships across multiple organizational levels.
  • A results-driven, action-oriented approach with a track record of achieving sales and profitability objectives.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to analyze market trends, recognize opportunities, and solve complex business challenges.
  • A commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and active engagement within the industry.

*Candidates must be eligible to work in the US as well as meet the qualifications listed above in order to be considered for the Milling Sales Executive job.
