Seeking an Operations Manager to provide support across two shuttle grain facilities in South Central Nebraska. This position serves as the third-in-command between two location managers and plays a critical role in maintaining efficient grain handling, rail loading, and facility operations.

The Operations Manager will receive training and development opportunities while gaining exposure to management responsibilities. This role is ideal for an experienced grain operations professional looking to advance into leadership and prepare for future management opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily operation of two grain handling facilities.
  • Operate and oversee unit train loading operations utilizing Union Pacific rail service.
  • Learn and operate facility computer systems, grain dryers, and grain handling equipment.
  • Coordinate grain shipments and communication with rail carriers.
  • Support inventory control, grain quality management, and grain segregation practices.
  • Ensure facilities remain clean, organized, and well-maintained.
  • Monitor equipment performance and assist with preventative maintenance activities.
  • Provide leadership and support to facility employees.
  • Serve as backup for location managers when needed.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Work closely with grain, agronomy, and management teams to support operational excellence and leadership development.

Required

  • Experience in grain handling, grain operations, elevator operations, or agricultural facility management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Ag Business or related field preferred; equivalent industry experience considered.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and business systems.
  • Ability to work extended hours during harvest, train loading, and peak operational periods.
  • CDL Class B preferred but not required.
  • Working knowledge of grain drying, grain conditioning, and grain movement processes.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate and learn grain management software and computerized systems.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to lead employees and work as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Experience with rail loading and train operations.
  • Understanding of grain merchandising and transportation logistics.
  • Desire to move into a future management role.
