General Manager – Feedyard

Pillar 2: What You Will Be Doing

  • Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for feedyard operations, ensuring efficiency, profitability, and compliance.
  • Oversee cattle health, feeding, yard maintenance, logistics, shipping/receiving, and environmental management.
  • Lead and develop department managers and employees, setting clear expectations and accountability.
  • Ensure adherence to all animal welfare standards, biosecurity protocols, and veterinary programs.
  • Manage operating budgets, cost controls, KPIs, and financial performance metrics.
  • Partner with nutrition, procurement, and marketing teams to optimize cattle performance and feeding outcomes.
  • Champion workplace safety programs and regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, state, and federal requirements).
  • Utilize performance data, audits, and benchmarking to drive continuous improvement.
  • Represent the operation professionally with customers, vendors, regulators, and community stakeholders.

Pillar 3: Who We Are Looking For

  • Proven senior leadership experience in large-scale feedyard or commercial livestock operations.
  • Strong understanding of cattle feeding systems, animal health, nutrition, and performance metrics.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex teams across multiple operational functions.
  • Financial acumen with experience managing budgets, P&L responsibility, and cost controls.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and commitment to animal care and employee safety.
  • Effective communicator with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in highly structured, compliance-driven environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
