This role will be responsible for

  • Driving sales growth through proactive engagement with distributors, dealers, and growers across key horticultural segments.
  • Conducting grower meetings, technical trainings, and webinars to generate end-user demand and pull-through sales via distribution.
  • Developing relationships with key regional partners, including Nutrien, Helena, Simplot, and hydroponic or cannabis retail distributors.
  • Executing a territory business plan with clear goals, travel schedules, and prioritized growth areas.
  • Reporting directly to the Horticulture Sales Manager, collaborating closely on market strategy and account development.

Expectations will include

  • Acting as a hunter-style salesperson—self-motivated, proactive, and persistent in driving new business.
  • Managing your time effectively to cover a large and diverse territory across California.
  • Demonstrating strong technical credibility in horticultural inputs, fertigation, crop protection, or CEA systems.
  • Delivering consistent results through communication, organization, and follow-through with distributors and end users.
  • Maintaining detailed knowledge of regional production trends across ornamentals, cannabis, and greenhouse crops.

A qualified candidate will possess the following

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Plant Science, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of sales experience in ag, horticulture, or related technical industries (fertilizer, chemistry, biologicals, or crop inputs).
  • Proven hunter mentality and track record of building and growing territories.
  • Strong presentation skills and comfort leading technical discussions and grower training events.
  • Self-starter with excellent time management and planning skills.
  • Residence or willingness to relocate near the Central Coast (San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Oxnard) for optimal coverage.
  • Experience as a grower, distributor rep, or inside the CEA/ornamentals/cannabis industries is a plus.
