Operations Manager – Central Kansas (Rail Terminal)

We’re seeking an Operations Manager to support and partner with the Rail Terminal Manager in running a state-of-the-art, fully automated grain rail loading facility. What you will be doing:

  • Supporting the Rail Terminal Manager in directing daily terminal operations including safety, customer service, maintenance, and grain quality
  • Supervising full-time, part-time, and transfer employees as part of the facility leadership team
  • Ensuring efficient facility performance, strong customer experiences, and compliance with safety and operational standards
  • Leading day-to-day maintenance activities and coordinating repairs or upgrades with the Rail Terminal Manager
  • Overseeing grain grading, fumigation, and blending processes to maintain top-tier grain quality
  • Representing the facility professionally with customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies

A successful Operations Manager candidate will demonstrate:

  • Flexibility to work variable hours to meet tight railroad spot and loading schedules
  • Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety across all facility areas
  • Ability to conduct daily safety briefings and assist with monthly team meetings
  • Professional, prompt, and courteous customer interaction
  • Accurate record keeping and adherence to regulatory and company policies
  • Skill in coaching, training, and supporting staff performance and development

A qualified candidate will possess:

  • Leadership experience in a grain facility or similar operational environment
  • Strong operational knowledge of grain elevator equipment and rail logistics
  • Hands-on maintenance and minor repair capabilities
  • Grain grading knowledge (corn, wheat, beans, milo)
  • Strong communication, data entry, and computer literacy skills
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems, and adapt quickly
  • A Class 7B grain fumigation license (or ability to obtain and maintain)
  • Physical capability to perform job functions in a demanding environment
  • High school diploma with 7+ years of relevant experience, or a college degree with 3–5+ years in a similar role
