Director of Product – Seed

Ag 1 Source is partnering with a highly respected seed organization in search of a dynamic and visionary Director of Product. In this pivotal role you will lead and drive product strategy, research efforts, and agronomy at the forefront of the seed industry. Day to day you will manage three critical areas—strategic direction, internal and contract research, and agronomy—to shape and expand their competitive edge. You’ll be working alongside the General Manager, influencing key decisions and ensuring the success of their innovative initiatives.

What you will be doing:

• Strategic Planning & Execution: Lead the strategic development of research, product selection, and agronomy to advance business goals.
• Project & Budget Management: Oversee and manage department budgets, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope.
• Research Leadership: Manage both internal and contract research efforts, ensuring quality and data integrity while leveraging new tools and methodologies.
• Agronomy Development: Lead the agronomy team to position products competitively and deliver in-field solutions for customers and sales teams.
• Team Leadership: Build, guide, and coach a diverse team, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with core values.
• Business Development: Drive contract research efforts, positioning it as a stand-alone business to attract customers.
• Provide Innovative Solutions: Constantly improve research designs and operational processes to ensure top-tier performance and outcomes.

A successful candidate for this position will possess the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in an agriculture-related discipline or business.
• 10+ years in the seed industry with strategic planning and budget accountability.
• 5+ years of people management experience, with proven success in cross-functional project leadership.
• Strong relationship-building abilities with internal teams and external clients.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• A demonstrated ability to think flexibly and strategically in a fast-paced environment.
