A leading Chicago-based private equity firm is seeking to add to its Corporate Development (M&A) Center of Excellence Team (“Corp Dev COE”). The Corp Dev COE functions as the firm’s specialized in-house management consulting arm for all things Corporate Development. The team is focused on (1) gathering, innovating, and implementing best practice tools and processes across its portfolio companies with the intent of accelerating their path to success in Corporate Development and (2) acting as a specialized, trusted resource for interim M&A support to the firm’s companies when needed. The team works with portfolio companies across the firm’s various diversified funds.

The Corp Dev COE program is designed to be a two-to-five-year program. All team members report directly to the firm’s Chief Development Officer. The program is built around a highly intentional learning and development curriculum intended to provide the necessary knowledge and experience for successful graduates to have the opportunity to transition into a leadership role at one of the firm’s portfolio companies. This opportunity is intended to attract top performing talent to join and learn the firm’s process, add significant value to its portfolio companies, then have a fast-track transition into a leadership role at a portfolio company at the conclusion of the program.

Responsibilities

• Support Corporate Development (M&A) function best practice implementation engagements across the firm’s portfolio companies working directly with its Chief Development Officer
• Work with investment professionals and management teams to identify portfolio company value creation opportunities, develop scopes and project plans, and execute against said plans in partnership with management teams
• Support portfolio company Corporate Development (M&A) functions on an interim basis by executing on valuation analyses, project management of the diligence and closing processes for add-on acquisitions, and other projects as needed
• Partner with the firm’s Chief Development Officer to develop content for the Corporate Development (M&A) central best practice library and quarterly Corporate Development (M&A) portfolio company leader cohort events

Compensation: Will include base and bonus and all in compensation will range from $100k – $150k.
