We have been asked by a leading, publicly traded bank in the Midwest to find a CFO who will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and who will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the bank and its subsidiaries. The CFO will play a critical role in shaping the bank’s strategic direction, financial planning, and risk management, ensuring the bank’s long-term financial success and its commitment to the community.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy:
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the bank’s long-term goals.
- Assess and manage financial risks, ensuring regulatory compliance and adherence to best practices.

Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting to support decision-making.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and provide insights to drive operational efficiency.

Financial Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements.

Capital Management:
- Manage the bank’s capital structure, including optimizing capital allocation and maintaining capital adequacy.

Investment Management:
- Manage the bank’s investment portfolio, optimizing returns while minimizing risk.
- Collaborate with investment teams to make informed investment decisions.

Treasury and Liquidity Management:
- Ensure efficient liquidity management to meet the bank’s obligations and maintain strong financial stability.
- Oversee cash management, including cash flow forecasting.

Tax Planning and Compliance:
- Develop and execute tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
- Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and reporting.

Mergers and Acquisitions:
- Participate in due diligence and financial analysis for potential mergers and acquisitions.

Stakeholder Communication:
- Build and maintain relationships with investors, analysts, and regulatory bodies.
- Communicate financial performance and strategies to the board of directors and shareholders.

Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Recruit, retain, and develop finance talent to meet the bank’s evolving needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
- Proven track record of at least 10 years in senior financial leadership roles within a large, preferably publicly traded bank or financial institution.
- In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to a changing financial landscape and drive innovation.
