Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – Superior Ag Cooperative, Huntingburg IN

The Superior Ag board of directors of is seeking a CEO to replace their retiring leader after 13 years of outstanding service as President and CEO of this organization. Superior Ag is a member-owned cooperative that provides $200 million in Agronomy, Grain, Feed, and Energy products and services to farmers in southwestern Indiana, northern and central Kentucky, and the bordering regions of Illinois via their 26 operations throughout that region.

Candidates considered for this position must possess upper management or CEO-level success in a multi-division organization, with preference given to those with this level of experience in the retail cooperative system. Superior Ag has deep roots in the region and has been serving patrons for over 100 years. Therefore, candidates must understand and appreciate the Cooperative business model and the opportunities it brings to its members.

Primary Responsibilities

• Partner with the Board of Directors to establish strategic direction and expectations, then create the organizational goals and system of accountability to exceed those expectations.
• Provides effective communication at all levels throughout the organization including board guidance, leadership team, employees, business partnerships, community, and any related government or regulatory agencies.
• Relate to rural members with a high level of integrity and trust.
• Recruit, hire, develop, and retain a high-performing team.

Key Requirements

• This position requires the highest levels of financial acumen, people leadership, and industry foresight.
• A bachelor’s degree in a related field, 15 plus years of Cooperative leadership or ag-business experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• A strong track record of performance in P&L management and departmental budgeting while serving in a leadership capacity.
• Possess a fundamental understanding of retail Agronomy, Grain, Feed, and Energy operations, with proven success in at least one of those areas.

Additional Insight

• This position reports to a ten-member Board of Directors and is supported by seven business unit leaders in the organization.
• The position is based in Superior Ag’s main office, which is located in Huntingburg, IN
• A key component to this position is community involvement, so this position requires the CEO to live within the Superior Ag market.
