Business Development Manager – Specialty Ingredients (Milling Products)

This role will be responsible for

  • Identifying and developing new business opportunities and potential acquisitions within the specialty milling space.
  • Leading initiatives to uncover product gaps and market demands through collaboration with Sales, Operations, QA/QC, Innovation, and Finance teams.
  • Driving new product development and commercialization strategies aligned with long-term business goals.
  • Leveraging CRM tools and market research to track opportunities and inform strategic planning.
  • Delivering detailed market and customer insights to support leadership decision-making.
  • Representing the company at customer meetings, conferences, and industry events.

Expectations will include

  • Utilizing both inbound and outbound lead generation tools to cultivate new customer relationships.
  • Developing and maintaining a detailed pipeline of opportunities through strategic use of CRM.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally to align goals and ensure seamless execution of development plans.
  • Delivering persuasive pitches and presentations that position our ingredients as market leaders.
  • Designing and overseeing training/support initiatives to equip teams for business development success.
  • Traveling up to 50% to engage with current and prospective customers, attend events, and drive new initiatives.

A qualified candidate will possess the following

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Agribusiness, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in the Specialty Ingredients sector—sales, marketing, technical service, or similar roles.
  • Strong background or familiarity with chickpea and/or soybean milling.
  • A proactive, action-oriented mindset with a drive to deliver results and exceed targets.
  • Exceptional communication and persuasion skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • A strategic thinker and complex problem-solver, capable of identifying trends and crafting innovative solutions.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking abilities.
  • Commitment to ongoing personal and professional growth.

Compensation: Flexible, DOE

Desired Location: Ideally, on site in IA, but open to hybrid / remote for the right candidate
